.......Clemes & Clemes Drum Carders.. Jan.
24,'01
In the past we have sold the Clemes and Clemes Drum Carders. They were an excellent carder, very inexpensive, and tough as the "Hubs of You know Where".
Unfortunately for we spinners, they have chosen to stop regular production of their spinning line, and concentrate on building furniture.
We have not found another brand of carder that we wish to sell.
C & C REPLACEMENT BELTS?
If you have contacted C & C and they no longer can supply the belt, then I would suggest trying to get one made.
Look in your phone book yellow pages under:
Belting and supplies
or most likely, BearingsThe material you want to ask for is:
Heat spliced Urethane Belting, 1/4 inch diameter
You may need to take your carder to them so they can determine the correct length to cut and splice the material. I think the standard C & C belt length was 24 inches.
Good luck,
C & C BROKEN BELT?
Suggestion:
The belt material is heat sealed urethane belting. I have reconnected them by heating the broken ends over a candle flame. It is a bit tricky and must be done quickly. Too much heat will burn the belt material and too little will not melt it. I have ground the resulting splice "lump" down to size on my electric grinder.
